Mananan watched Ella sleeping in the middle of his bed. She was wrapped in blankets and didnât look like she was going to wake any time soon. He slipped into the bathroom, took a shaky breath, and pulled down the side of his pants. Emblazoned on his hip, at the top of his V, was a glowing rune.
A mating rune, his mind corrected. Suddenly the craziness of the last few weeks was starting to make sense. He had been drawn back to her part of the ocean because she was there. His magic had been trying to tell him something, and he had been too dense to figure it out.
The mating rune explained why he was obsessed with keeping Ella safe and was filled with a feral rage when anyone or anything looked at her wrong.
What did he do to deserve a mate? Nothing at all.
In his family, Kynan had been the kind brother, Oberon the responsible one, Taranis the wild and magically talented one. He was the unyielding one. The man cold enough to do the hard jobs. To throw himself into any fight because he only cared about destroying the enemy. He had never cared whether he walked away from any encounter. He had plenty of siblings to carry on the family bloodline and make sure someone suitable took over his kingdom.
The glowing rune on his hip changed everything. He couldnât be so reckless with his life and have it not affect her.
Mananan knew his own nature. He would go right into possessive and obsessive with Ella. He already wanted to keep her in that room with him forever. To show her all the things her body could feel. She had been shy about her inexperience, but he couldnât deny the part of him that wanted to be her first for so many things. He would be more than happy to teach her anything she wanted to know.
âFuck,â he groaned. He was still hard from kissing her perfect, soft breasts on the balcony. He turned on the wall of water that passed for a shower in Faerie and got in. He had it on cold, but it didnât matter. He was raging, knowing his mate was in the other room and he was not being buried inside of her.
Manananâs hand dropped to his dick. He needed to calm down so he could think straight. He began to stroke himself, one hand braced against the wall.
Gods, Ella had been so fucking responsive and sensitive just from him kissing her breasts that sheâd come. He could smell her arousal, had wanted to bury his face between her thighs and lick her over and over. He had left more than one red mark on her chest, needing to know heâd been there, to warn others that she was his. He wanted to watch her face glow from pleasure. He wanted to come all over those sweet, softâ¦
âFuck,â Mananan groaned, biting his lip to keep himself from shouting as his orgasm roared through him.
