Grace
She was starting to wake up. Her head was pounding and everything was foggy. She slowly remembered what had happened. She was tied up and some crazy guy held her and a creepy singer from The Fuglies as hostages.
The haze lifted and she jerked around in the bed. Her arms and legs were still bound and she screamed! Why was she the only person screaming? That guy was screaming earlier. Why wasnât he screaming? She tried to look around the best she could, but it was too dark.
âOh, you wonât be hearing anything out of him if thatâs what youâre worried about.â
The man stepped out of the shadows toward her. He gave her a nasty sneer as he sat on the mattress. He looked like the man who had saved her, but it was like Jekyll and Hyde. They acted like two different people with this one being a serpent. He was cold, deadly, and dangerous.
âIs he dead?â
âYou already know that answer,â he laughed. âAfter all, I gave you the choice of watching or not. You said no so I knocked you out. Then I made him suffer the way he would have made you suffer. The same way he made other victims suffer.â There was anger in his voice.
âSo it makes it okay for you to kill him? How does it make you any better? Why kill me?â
âI am forced to kill, unfortunately.â
He touched his chest with the bloody knife dramatically.
âIâm bound by those that once saved my life to do their bidding. They ask for death and blood so I deliver. Removing scum like Collin over there though, well, thatâs just a bonus.â
âBlood? What kind of psycho are you? Do you think youâre some kind of vampire or work for them? Weird fuck!â
âStrong words for someone who keeps running from her past, Grace.â
The words stopped her dead.
âYour husband didnât want you. God didnât love you enough to give you children. Youâre so alone, but donât want to look weak. Boohoo. Thatâs such a tragedy, Grace!â His eyes flashed menacingly.
She stared at him. How the fuck does he know all this stuff? She shivered. He settled back on the mattress, trying to calm down. He closed his eyes, then shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair.
âIâm sorry I donât have time to do things in my normal way. Iâm usually a lot more hospitable, but someone will start noticing if Iâm missing too long.â
He looked back toward the door.
âI do have to have you in a certain state of mind though, and itâs preferred I did it naturally. However, this time I have to take a shortcut.â
He got up and walked across the room. He rummaged through some stuff that she couldnât really see. It didnât take him long to find what he was looking for before he came back to her. He had his arms crossed like they were full. He gently laid the stuff between her legs, then sat back down. He picked up a syringe and a glass vial and pulled the contents out.
