One week later, Finn literally felt like he was walking on sunshine. It was Delani, she was the breath of fresh air his life needed. In a matter of seven days he was completely hooked on her and did things outside his very structured life. She took him roller blading and it didn’t turn out very well. Finn grinned and rubbed his sore shoulder from the experience. It was well worth it. She introduced him to some of her friends when he took one of her classes and each night he loved her hard and she made him burn with pleasure.

Right now he was at a recruitment event at the Austin Convention Center, smiling broadly. In the middle of a culture and craft expo they were talking to young men and women about a career in the military. All he could think about was Delani and the way her skin smelled in the morning. Her bed was positioned near the window, and each morning the sun crossed her body. He swore he could smell and taste the warmth that caressed her skin.

“Finn, you look like the cat that ate the canary.”

His friend, Steve, who was working with him that day, made the comment. They were two of the older men in the unit and had been deployed together more than once.

“I’m enjoying the day,” Finn commented mildly.

Steve snorted in disbelief. “You hate these things as much as I do. In fact, the last time you said you’d prefer to be roasted in a pike in hell before doing another one, and here you are grinning. What gives, and if it’s a flask in your pocket pass it over.”

“I don’t have alcohol on me.” Finn grinned. “If you must know, I’m dating someone.”

Steve slapped him on the back. “You dirty dog, getting it on. I thought you were the confirmed bachelor?”

“I wasn’t out looking. She kinda fell into my lap,” Finn said. “She invited me out for dinner after the Ironman, and from there it’s been a whirlwind.”

“How old is she, like thirty-five?” Steve asked.

“Twenty-nine. She teaches yoga and Pilates,” he replied.

Steve’s mouth dropped. “You’re dating a women in her twenties? In which world did you become a millionaire?”

Finn frowned. “She’s not after money, she has her own business.”

“But she’s dating you?” Steve asked.

“Well gee, thanks, I feel so much better now.” Sarcasm dripped from his every word.

“I mean more power to you,” Steve said apologetically. “But guys like us very rarely get the pretty girl. We’re older, multiple deployments under our belt, set in our ways, and the scars aren’t just on the skin but on our souls, man.”

Finn shrugged “I guess she saw something in me that she liked.”

“Well, hello stud.”

The sexy drawl made them both look up, and Delani was standing there. Her full lips were curved in a smile and his heart did a little dance of happiness in his chest. She was wearing a pair of jeans that clung to her legs and a red top with thin spaghetti straps that showed a generous amount of cleavage.
