Chapter 16 - Jet
I took Senna back to our roomâbecause thatâs really what it was nowâfollowing our dinner. It still struck me that Sennaâs old pack knew nothing about the history of the magicked wolves, those without the ability to shift. Iâd thought it was a sad fact that many packs knew of these individuals but still treated them poorly.
If Sennaâs pack hadnât known, who else was in the dark?
The thought echoed in my blood. So much was too different between wolves. We were so sporadically educated about the history of our own people. Had we drifted that far apart from what we once were? Was my pack the only one that knew of the legends affecting Senna?
âHey, youâre making a face.â Sennaâs words pulled me out of my head, and I looked down at her where we sat perched on the end of the bed. âYou smell burnt, too.â
Shaking my head with a smile, I lowered my forehead to hers, breathing in my mate to settle myself. The warm almond and rose aroma filled my nose.
âIâm fine. Sorry. Youâre justâ¦youâre right about this. Itâs so much to learn, to teach. Iâmâ¦Iâm curious if other packs are just as clueless.â
Senna reached up, brushing her fingers across the scruff on my cheeks. The mate bond pulled harder as I let myself focus on how damn good she smelled. It seemed stronger, more potent, like during her heat, but that had passed.
Nuzzling into the crook of her neck, I nipped at Sennaâs skin as she laughed gently, the sound wind chimes in a mountain breeze. My blood heated, a swirling, intoxicating pull toward her, making me salivate and my cock twitch.
And then I scented it.
Sennaâs hormones had shifted. They hadnât returned to their pre-heat state. They were still slightly elevated. She felt warmer as well, only faintly, but it was enough for me to take notice. I pulled back from her, gazing down as I studied her even harder.
âWhat? Why are you looking at me like that?â Senna angled away, a blush creeping up her cheeks.
But I could also see the quirk of a smile tugging at her lips, one she was trying to fight back.
âYouâreâ¦are youâ¦â
I couldnât find the words, even though I knew what was happening. My pulse sped up as my entire being felt like it was soaring into the stratosphere.
âJet, whatâs wrong?â Senna just continued to smirk at me. âWolf got your tongue?â
She giggled, her eyes ducking down to the floor as she smiled.
âYou are, arenât you?! Yes?â
I swept up next to her, taking her hands in mine and squeezing lightly. My being hummed, the energy welling up through me nearly impossible to contain. The brightness of our bond intensified, and I could sense Sennaâs âyesâ before it even broke the air.
She nodded.
Immediately, I pulled her into my arms, kissing her delectable lips as emotions too unfamiliar to name swam through me, flooding my nerves with such excitement, such joy, that I could scarcely breathe.
âSenna!â She yelped with laughter and flaring hormones as I ran my lips across every inch of available skin.
