You are at liberty to fire your client if the project is not working as you expected or they are just simply overbearing. Add a clause to your contract that you have the option of canceling the contract at the halfway mark. If this were to occur, they would pay whatever remaining balance was due up to 50% of the total cost, and you would then provide all of the work done thus far on the project.
