Sirius grabbed the sword, weighing it in his hand.

The pirates where cheering. Sirius smiled, embarrassed.

Then the deck once again calmed down.

Sirius looked up at the stars. He knew that Mandrik had told the truth.

Now he would be fighting for the pirates. For the first time in many years, he felt at home.

Chapter 5

The Armored Ship

Sirius awoke suddenly and sat up in his hammock. He had heard something.

“SHIP AHOY!” someone called from the deck.

Sirius’s heart started racing. This was it! He dressed quickly. His new armor was a bit tricky to put on. He tightened the buckles so that the armor fit tightly.

His new sword hung on a peg next to him. Sirius grabbed it, and as he ran up the stairs, he pulled the strap for the scabbard over his chest.

The sun was rising, painting the clouds red and orange. He stared at the sky. The Skull Clouds! They really did look like human skulls.

On deck, everything was quiet. The other pirates were hiding behind the rail. Ganor gestured for Sirius to join him in hiding.

“Get down, get down!” he whispered.

Sirius quickly sat down. Peeking over the rail, he could see a zeppelin approaching on the horizon.
