28 | CREATE A BEVERAGE STATION
One way to add some flair to your party is to start with your drinks! Simple touches, such as sliced cucumbers or lemons with basil and ice in sparkling lemon-lime soda or even water, will transform your beverage options from ordinary to extraordinary.
Here are some memorable beverage station ideas:
Coffee Station. Use a French press, and offer milk, half-and-half, or creamers in popular flavors such as peppermint or vanilla.
Hot Cocoa Station. Try different flavors of cocoa, such as white chocolate or raspberry dark chocolate, and provide marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkles, cocoa powder in a shaker, and candy canes to make it pretty and festive.
Italian Soda Station. Set out club soda, a variety of flavored syrups (try vanilla and blackberry together!), and a bucket of ice. Add a pitcher of cream for creamosas.
Lemonade Station. Set out raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and mint leaves in little bowls.
Hot Spiced Cider Station. Warm up some apple cider or apple juice and add your favorite spices. Then set out cinnamon sticks, allspice berries, and orange slices.
Don’t forget pretty cups or mugs, straws, and maybe even a chalkboard menu of instructions.
Get creative with labels! Not only do labels cut down on the amount of drink glasses you’ll need, but the process of choosing drinks and labeling glasses makes the drink station a festive part of the party. Cut the labels out of stiff paper, write each guest’s name on a label—or let them write it themselves—and tie them around the glass with string. (Mason jars or glasses with a handle or stem work well for this.)
