Chapter Eleven

I never felt so much rage in my life staring back at his punchable face. After what happened with the marina, I was ready to deck him, but I could tell that this wasn’t about a fight.

It almost looked like Sebastian was just here to talk.

“What the hell do you want?” I asked, closing the door behind me. “How’d you find me?”

“Same way you found me,” he said, turning his cap backwards. “I just kept moving until the feeling in my stomach got too strong. When I felt like I had to puke, I knew I was getting close.”

“So, what’s this about?” I asked. “You leaving?”

He smirked at me, making me want to punch him again.

“Like I said, I want to talk,” he said, walking down my stoop. “Let’s go.”

“What, why?” I said, confused. “What do we have to talk about?”

“You’re right, why don’t we stay here,” he said, taking a step up back onto my stoop. “You got your girls in there? I’ll step in and say hello.”

I let out a growl. “Stay the fuck away from my girls.”

“That’s what I thought,” he said, jerking his head at me. “Let’s go. You need to hear me out right now.”

Intrigued by what this was about and knowing that this was one of the things that I needed to solve, I decided to see what he had to say. I went back inside and told the girls what was happening as I slipped some shoes on.

“Wait, you’re going where?” asked Ember, running toward the door to peek outside. “Oh my god, what is he doing here?”

“I don’t know, but I’m going to find out,” I said. “Stay here.”

“Shouldn’t we come with you?” asked Fiona. “Or we could just attack his bitch ass right here.”

“Yeah, let’s do that!” said Megan, who rolled up the sleeves of her shirt. “I’m ready for a rumble. And I’ll make him my bitch just like I made all those catfish!”

“Hang on,” I said. “He’s not here to fight. At least, I don’t think so. Stay here, we’re going on the street. We’ll stay within sight, so if he tries anything, you’ll be nearby. I don’t know what his game is right now, but I’m going to find out.”

“Just be super duper careful,” said Cora, flying into my arms and peppering my face with kisses. “If anything happened to you, I’d just frickin’ die.”

“Nothing’s going to happen to me,” I said with a chuckle, giving Cora one kiss in return. “Just stay here, okay? I’ll be right back.”

After making sure the girls were fine, I stepped back outside to find Sebastian kicking an empty soda can with his feet. Once he saw that I was ready, he wound it back and launched it, striking the house on the other side of mine.

“Should have been a soccer star,” he said, smirking at me as the side of their house was covered in the remains of soda.

“It’s better than being an asshole,” I said.

He snorted. “I could still be an asshole and a soccer star.
