Back aboard Island Girl, we took quick showers to wash away the salt from our swim. Once we were dry, we called Aaron.

"Hey, you two. How did it go?"

"About like we planned," I said.

"Tell me what you got."

Mary and I filled him in on what we learned from Patrick.

"Okay," he said. "There's enough there for me to do a little checking. Patrick Thomas, Paradise Rent-a-Car, Joseph Donaldson, Fiddler's Green on Old Parham Road. Anything else that might help?"

"The car was new and white," Mary said.

"Okay. Got that."

"We have Patrick's phone," I said.

"Give me the number."

I read the number to Aaron.

"That's the one we tapped earlier. Hang on to it for now, but I doubt there's anything on it we can't get through the carrier's billing database, and we're already into that. No, on second thought, see if there's a directory entry for Donaldson. Maybe he was the guy Patrick told about killing Eddie. If not, though, his phone number will be a new piece to the puzzle. We're already working on other calls to and from that person."

I found an entry for Joseph Donaldson and gave Aaron the number.

"That's one we didn't already have. How many numbers are in the directory?"

"Looks like 15 or 20."

"Okay. Do me a favor and copy the names and numbers and text them to me when we hang up. While you're at it, copy his call history and send me as much of that as you can. No need to go back forever. About how much is there?"

"It's a cheap phone," I said, scrolling through the history screen. "Looks like another 15 or 20 phone numbers. Most of them are in the directory. We'll send you the ones that aren't."

"Good. Send them on. Never know what we may find."

"Okay. Hang on for a second."

I switched to the phone's messaging app and scrolled back until I found a picture of Abby and another girl in front of a Christmas tree.

"Damn," I said, frowning.

"What?" Aaron asked, as Mary took the phone and studied the picture.

"Patrick told us Donaldson sent him a photograph of Abby and Judy so he would recognize them. I just found it."

"What about it? Can you tell anything?"

"No, not really. But they're together, standing in front of a Christmas tree. Not exactly a surveillance photograph."

"No, sounds like it's not. Somebody got access to their personal pictures."

"Yes. And they got it before the kidnapping. We need to find a way to see if Sarah recognizes this. If she knows where and when it was taken, that might give us a clue as to how the kidnappers got their hands on it."

"Yeah," Aaron said. "Send it to her."

"Not yet. There's a problem. How do I explain having it in my possession? I can't ask her not to tell anybody about it."

"I have a suggestion," Mary said.

"What's that?"

"Tell her we sneaked into the resort and found Abby's phone in the bushes near her room."

"Not bad," Aaron said. "But how do you explain knowing her access code?"

"Easy," Mary said.
