Chapter Eight

The sunlight began to trickle through the room as birds chattered outside the window. Randy slowly opened his eyes and the first thing he noticed was that he was now in bed, the second was the muscled arm around his waist. Jake was home. Randy couldn’t help but wiggle around to look at the gorgeous man’s face.

Jake’s green eyes held Randy in their spell as he murmured, “I missed you.”

“I missed you too.” Jake smiled.

“It feels good to be missed,” Randy said before asking, “Did you get what you needed from the camp?”

“We managed to free the remaining five prisoners. They’re all safe and resting comfortably in the bedrooms in the basement,” Jake explained as he rubbed his nose against Randy’s.

“Are you okay? Was anyone hurt?” The last thing Randy wanted was for someone to be injured.

That brought a wide smile to Jake’s lips. “One of the two guards was injured.”

“Guards? Are they here?” Randy couldn’t help the fear that raced through his body.

Shadow pulled him closer and nuzzled the side of his neck. “I would never bring them anywhere near you. They’re tucked away in a jail cell in a nearby county awaiting a visit from the feds. The local sheriff’s a friend of Dave’s.”

“Are these people you can trust?” Randy knew there were more than a few public figures involved with the Fellowship’s dirty business.

“Yes. Dave has been in constant contact with trustworthy agents he personally has had contact with in the past. You don’t need to worry. The investigations are already under way.”

“By now several branches of the Fellowship will be penniless. The heat should be on Bowen within the next few days. Once they start searching for the money.” Randy couldn’t help but remind Shadow because soon Bowen would be coming after him.

“Yes, babe, we’re aware and we’re tracking Bowen as we speak,” Shadow told him as he nibbled his way down the other side of Randy’s neck.

“Really?”

“Really, really.” Shadow stopped his exploration and looked Randy in the eyes. “I will do whatever it takes to protect you.”

Randy couldn’t help but hug the big guy. This was the beginning of the end for Bowen and every other person belonging to the Fellowship. Jake rolled onto his back, taking Randy with him until he now lay on top of the sexy man. Jake’s eyes were soft and his hands gentle as they skimmed over Randy’s sensitive body. All he wanted to do was get closer to the man he loved.

“I love you, Jake. I want to have a life with you after this is over.” There it was, out in the open. He would have never been so bold as to lay his cards out like that, but this was a step forward into his new life.

Randy must have said the right thing because Jake looked as if he were about to shout with excitement. “I want you to return with me to Brighton. We have a large plot of land there and we could build whatever we want.
