Jude arranged the food on the trencher quietly as he considered what he’d driven her to.Yaw women rarely bit their partners, and when they did, it was because they were so turned on both physically and emotionally that they were overwhelmed. Still, with his people, pleasure biting could be dangerous. His little human’s blunt teeth had barely broken the surface of his skin, but the pleasure of it still lingered.

He’d never come so hard in his life.

“So, do your people go naked?”

He laughed and glanced back at her; she was standing near the bed still wrapped in a drying sheet, the thin gown in which he’d found her in her hands. She was looking at it with displeasure. “No, I’ve just become somewhat accustomed to it since I’ve been alone for so long. What’s wrong with the gown?”

“Marceau purchased it for me to wear for when I met him.”

Thatwas irritating. He picked up the wood tray of fruits that he’d prepared and went to her. “Here, nothing too heavy, but the fruit will help replace some of the water you’ve lost.”

She took the tray and started to toss aside the gown but he caught it with his fingers. “I’d rather never see you in this again.” He fisted the material in his hand. “I’ve a reproduction unit in one of the forward chambers of this cave. I’ll have it make you something.”

“And something to cover my feet?”

“Yes, of course.” He snagged the thin, ridiculous sandals from the floor. “I’ll put all of this in the recycle unit.”

Kayla nodded. “Thank you.”

He left her after watching her settle on the bed with the food. The irrational anger at having another man’s things on her was burning in his gut. The large cave he’d made his home in was made up of six chambers; the largest he’d used for his bed and the majority of the things he’d been forced to bring with him. If it had been left to him, his people could have left him here with nothing for thesolace period. Yet, his uncle insisted that a future king not live so primitively. Hence, the bed, the compu-station, food, and reproduction units had been tucked into his temporary home.

It wasn’t all that dissimilar to the suite of chambers he enjoyed in the city. WhenAtelier had been built, the constructionist had used as much of the natural structure as possible, creating a beautiful and unique city for the royal family and those citizens who chose to live in the capital.

He shoved the offending gown and shoes into the recycling unit and walked away as it activated. The gentle hum of the machine working was actually soothing. He went to the reproduction unit to produce the clothes she requested. With a few key strokes, he ordered leggings, boots, a shirt, and a collection of hair paraphernalia he thought she might want.Yaw women did not let their hair grow so long after they reached adulthood. He always felt it was a shame.

The reproduction unit finished its cycle and dinged very softly.
