Ease the cap of the sleeve by pulling on the bobbin thread of the ease stitch (do not gather, easing is to aid in fitting the sleeve into the armhole smoothly). Pin to the armscye right sides together and smooth out any gathers or possible tucks. Stitch the seam, trim and finish with a serger or zigzag.

Stitch the side seams of the shirt and sleeves (FIG. 10). Finish the seam with a serger or zigzag. Press.

Serge or overcast stitch around the bottom of the garment.

Flip the front facings back to the garment right side at the bottom edge and pin in place. Stitch 1⁄4" (6 mm) (just above the serged finish) (FIG. 11). Flip the facing back to the inside of the garment. Press up the remainder of the hem edge, turning up the serged finish. Topstitch the facing and stitch the hem (FIG. 12).
