The attendant took one look at the bruised and swollen left side of Priest’s face and offered him an ice pack and aspirin.
“Thanks.”
As he held the cold pack against his face, the woman smiled.
“I caught the end of your concert. I loved the dedication and closing song. I hope this isn’t a result of that. If so, you do what you need to do. Your fans will back you.”
Priest watched as the woman walked away. Her words touched him.
Thank god he was able to get a private booth in first class. Recycling his seat, he looked out into the blackened night. Sighing, he closed his eyes. He simply couldn’t believe that Shaw attacked him like that.
They’d all had disagreements in the past but it never resulted in an actual fight. Shaw crossed a line. A big fucking line. The hateful things that he said and the fact that he drew blood, was too much to overlook.
Tears rose in his eyes as a profound pain-filled his chest.
This was it. This was the end of Beautyful Nyghtmare.
The band had not only been friends, but they’d been his family for the last seven years. The looks and silence of Marty and Linc, spoke volumes of how they felt as to him being with another man. There was no way that he could revisit that. No way could he ever be part of them again.
In that very moment a lone tear slid down his cheek for what once was.
As Priest descended from the airplane and walked through the terminal he was overwhelmed by the number of people that approached him with congratulations on coming out and asked for his autograph.
The love was priceless.
Klare was waiting in the great room when Priest arrived. The moment Priest walked through the door, Klare was in his arms.
“Oh my god, are you alright?! I saw the news. They showed you and one of your bandmates fighting. The reporter stated that the drummerwas hurling gay taunts at you and hit you first. Oh god—your face!”
“Sh—calm down,” Priest could see Klare getting worked up. Remembering the doctor’s warning, he knew this wasn’t good for Klare or the baby.
“I’m okay. It looks a lot worse than it actually is.”
Klare didn’t look convinced.
“Are you hungry? I can get you something.”
It touched him how his sweet boy was trying to care for him.
“No baby, I’m not hungry. What I would like, is to shower and then hold you as I sleep.”
Taking the bigger man by his hand, Klare led him down the hall to the bathroom.
