The rest of the afternoon was spent swimming, basking in the sun, sipping cold wine and generally chatting about lighter topics like favourite holiday destinations and interesting adventures.

In the middle of it all, Carol finally admitted to herself that she really liked Lisa very much—too much. She dreaded the idea that Lisa might not feel the same way about her. That seemed to be her fate in life and even though she suspected that staying single would be her lot, she was still careful not to reveal too much about herself. She was certain Lisa would definitely go off her if she knew who she really was.

It was clear that there was already some bad blood between her mother’s business, Harris and his gang and Lisa. She really didn't want to be associated with any of that—at least not today. For this one day she just wanted to bask in the dream, the possibility, that there was something still open to her—to them.

Sometime after 6 p.m. when Carol’s tummy rumbled loudly again, Lisa smiled and suggested they head back to Skala Eressos.

Even though she loved being on the secluded beach and having Lisa all to herself, Carol couldn’t argue. She had been grateful for the light picnic lunch but they had eaten the last morsel a few hours earlier and she was more than ready for something more to soak up all the wine they had consumed.

Carol helped Lisa pack up and they had one last swim before Lisa took them around the island, back to Skala Eressos.
