From the campground the road continues through dense forest until it reaches Grand Lake Road, which continues on toward Baxter State Park. The road eventually crosses the Seboeis River and there’s a picnic area on the right just after the bridge. From here the road continues through thick forest that eventually becomes overshadowed by the huge cliffs of Dark Horse Mountain. Soon wild and undeveloped Grand Lake Matagamon, sitting at the base of the mountain’s northern slope, comes into view and this trip ends at the north gate to Baxter State Park.
