Chapter 28

Why did I survive? I don't want to be alive. I woke up three days ago and I’m supposed to go home today. Ryder was here when I woke up and he told me he's the one who found me. I got upset and they made him leave. Why did he and Shannon have to come home and save me? Life isn't worth living if I don't have Ryder. I want to be dead.

The nurse walked into the room and she was smiling. I scowled. How can you be in a place like this and be so chipper? I hate hospitals whether I'm a patient or not. All the sickness and death around here, how can someone stay happy? I just want to go home and wallow in my self-pity. Fuck me.

"Are you almost ready to go? The doctor is drawing up your discharge papers now." She asked.

"Yeah I hate being here, I want to go home." I replied.

"Do you have a ride arranged?"

"I can call the house and my mom or my older sister can come pick me up."

"Okay. I'll be back with the paperwork in a few."

I nodded and she left the room. I picked up my phone and dialed the number to the house. It's Saturday so everyone should be there. The person who picked up the phone was the one person I didn't want to talk to.

"Hello?"

"Can I speak to your mom, dad or Shannon?"

"Shannon isn't here."

"I need someone to come pick me up from the hospital."

"I can."

"You don't have a vehicle."

"I can drive yours."

"You lost the privilege of driving my car when you broke up with me Ryder."

"Sorry."

"Let me talk to your mother."

He sighed. "Can't we talk?"

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Please talk to me."

"Let me speak to your mother."

"Fine."

He went and handed the phone to his mother. I'm glad he didn't press the issue of us talking anymore. I have nothing to say to him. You should have let me die asshole! I have nothing to live for anymore. After a minute or two of exchanged words his mother got handed the phone.

"Hey Kayleigh! How are you?" Mrs. Ashleigh asked.

"Ready to come home. They're about to release me."

"Okay I'll be on my way. Ryder wants to ride with me to get you."

"No."

"If it wasn't for him you would be dead right now."

"If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have tried to commit suicide in the first place."

"Okay. You made your point. I'm on my way."

I hung up the phone and crossed my arms. How dare she try to justify Ryder's actions? Yeah, he found me but I didn't want to be found. Hell, if we didn't break up I wouldn't have tried to end my life. We probably would be just waking up, smiling and kissing each other. My heart felt like I got stabbed at the memory. I grabbed my chest and screamed. Seconds later my nurse came running into the room.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"No! I don't want to go home and be around him, be depressed!" I cried.
