MINDFUL TAKEAWAY
There is more right with you than there is wrong at any given moment. Consider your fundamental needs—safety, satisfaction, and connection—and be grateful for those needs that are being met right now. Remember to bring an attitude of gratitude to your day!

MINDFUL ACCEPTANCE
“It is what it is.” This is one way to sum up the essence of acceptance—the ability to accept a person, place, thing, or situation as it is in the moment. Acceptance is not necessarily easy, but when you can learn to accept things the way they are, especially those that are out of your control, the result is often feeling like a weight has been lifted off your back.
mindful acceptance: PAC
To mindfully accept what is going on in your life, consider PAC (be Present, take Action, and consider Control):
BE PRESENT: Notice and take an inventory of the people, places, things, and situations in your life right now. Being present and aware of these will provide you with information.
TAKE ACTION: Decide if what you are accepting requires any action on your part. If it does, take the necessary action. For example, you might not like the wage you are being paid to work. You accept that this is what you are being paid. If you don’t think it is a fair wage, or if you want to be paid more, you can take action. You can go and look for another job that pays more. You can talk to your boss about your wants and needs regarding your wage. When you are accepting of things as the way they are, it doesn’t mean you don’t want something different. You can take action to change the things you can.
CONSIDER CONTROL: Do you have any control over what is taking place, or is it out of your control? If it is within your control, do what you can and need to, perhaps by choosing to take action. If it is out of your control, be present to whatever thoughts and feelings arise.
You are practicing mindful acceptance when you are present to what is taking place in your life and surroundings. You can decide if anything requires action on your part, and you can recognize what is and isn’t within your control.
acceptance inventory
It is often easy to accept things when they are good and going your way. However, it can be difficult to accept things you don’t like, things you wish could be different, or things that are out of your control. Mindful acceptance is being present to both the good and the bad. Reflect on each of the following areas:
Acceptance of what exists in this moment in your life
example: I am sitting at home having a cup of tea while listening to my dog bark at the door.
Acceptance of what is within your control
example: I can decide when I do my work and when I take a break.
Acceptance of what is out of your control
example: I have no control of who likes or doesn’t like me.
Acceptance of your strengths and positive qualities
example: I am good at picking new music on iTunes.
