Kaden leaned close to Ivy. “You good?”

“Yeah, of course.”

“As I thought, you aren’t, but you will be.”

He dropped a sizzling kiss on her lips and had to force himself to step back. Ivy would always intoxicate him. As he lifted his head, he made eye contact with Carter and then Mark. Their acknowledgment was a mere whisper of movement, but it was enough for him to know they got his message: she’s fragile but feisty. They understood because they had one of their own, making their camaraderie priceless. One last quick kiss and assurance before standing, Jessie and Becky were already making their way to where he was. Good. That would give him the time he needed to find out what was worth starting a war over.

His own feelings aside, he didn’t think the mob would have thought Ivy worth the grand gesture of throwing an incendiary device twice. The more he thought about it, the less he thought it was about being sore losers and wanting Ivy and more about getting their information back. Kaden had a plan to get what the team needed while giving the mob back what they thought they wanted without jeopardizing his girl. It was a formulating plan that he liked the longer he thought about it.
