Pretty much every navigation app has a man-overboard (MOB) feature that allows you to save your position at the push of a button and then automatically switch modes to navigate back to that location. Many boats have more than one navigation app. Make sure that everyone on board knows how to operate the MOB feature on every device.

Keep a digital log. A log can help you determine how far you’ve gone over a certain period, which can be helpful for navigating or for knowing whether you set the world sailing speed record for a 24-hour run. (You need to sail more than 700 miles in a 24-hour period at an average speed of more than 30 knots to be close.)
