Chapter Twenty-Three

“This morning was amazing, Sky. At least for me…” Charlie says when he comes over and lowers himself down on the foot of the bed. I’m sitting cross-legged at the headboard with my phone in my hand after messaging my father that I’m okay, other than being a little sore between my legs from having sex with two men. No, I don’t tell him that. I told him I had a great birthday, and thanks for sending the documents. He replies and says he has a present for me when I come home. I’m sure he could’ve mailed whatever it is, but is holding it hostage to make sure I do come back.

“Yeah, I mean, I liked it too,” I assure Charlie. “It’s just not how I ever imagined I would lose my virginity, but it was great.”

“You wanted Graham to be your first?” he asks.

“That…that was a stupid, childish fantasy that I held onto for way too long,” I admit with heat burning my cheeks. Are things awkward between the guys and me now? No, not really. Which is a relief. But if I think about what we did together a few hours ago, I get a little embarrassed about how enthusiastic I was. And loud. Wow, I was really loud. But nothing had ever felt so good, even if it was all new.

“It’s not stupid to want someone you shouldn’t,” Charlie tells me, as if he’s speaking from experience. “Our hearts want what they want, right? It’s not really something we get to have a say in.”

“Yeah, I guess that’s true,” I agree.

“Besides, you’re better off without him. Graham’s a good friend, but I think he would only break your heart.”

“I know that,” I tell him. “Still doesn’t mean I wouldn’t try if he actually wanted me.”

“Yeah, I get it,” he replies with a sigh. “So, are we really going to do what we did this morning again?”

“If you and Ty want to, then yeah, I’m in,” I say because it did feel amazing and I do want more. Now that I know what I’ve been missing out on for so long, I crave the connection and intimacy that’s unfamiliar yet phenomenal.

“Both of us?” Charlie asks for clarification.

“Yes.”

“Good,” he says on an exhale that sounds like relief. “I was worried you wouldn’t want to have us both…”

“And you prefer it that way?” I ask.

“Yes, but could you not tell Ty?” he asks, and now it’s his turn to blush. And then I start to put some of the pieces together.

Holy shit!

Charlie wants to be with Tyson. Maybe he’s wanted it for a while and this morning was the first chance he got…

“My lips are sealed,” I promise while miming a zipper across them.

“Great. Thanks, Sky,” he says. “I’ll leave you alone for now, but we’re gonna get back in the car again later today, right?” he asks with a smile.

“Right,” I agree, and then he’s gone.

I go downstairs to check on my chocolate chip cookies that are in the oven and run into Ty.
