This train was the last Southern Pacific passenger train to run on the Felton branch line. Not until 25 years later, when the Santa Cruz, Big Trees & Pacific began operations, did the public have another chance to witness the majesty of the massive sequoia redwoods and the San Lorenzo River Gorge by train.

This October 1965 view of “Main Street” shows the newly completed Roaring Camp General Store and depot. The Southern Pacific line runs parallel to the narrow gauge in the dense brush on the right, and beyond that is Henry Cowell State Park.
