Chapter Seven

While I love being married to Bristol and I love the life we are building together, I have felt like another shoe was going to drop and I was right. Out of nowhere last month, I was served, and Dante Briggs sued me for breach of contract and wrongful termination. How fucking ballsy do you have to be to sue someone after being caught making bets on something you can control the outcome of? He’s making my life hell and it hasn’t gotten any better since Bristol cleaned house on the pit crew and got rid of guys that were loyal to Dante. She figured out who knew what and when they knew it.

Now, my main pit crew is all badass females who get me in and out the pit much quicker than I previously thought possible. The ladies are making headlines as the first female-only pit crew in the history of racing.

His harassment is steady but doesn't exactly cross the line.

The court hearings are going in my favor, but I don’t need this shit. The last race of the season is coming up and I need to focus all my energy on it. The Telluride Motor Speedway is one of the most challenging courses in America and I have to be ready for it. I am looking forward to racing from a higher points system.

“Baby?” I hear Bristol yell from the living room. She probably just needs me to lift something for her. I am heading for her when suddenly I hear an explosion of glass and her screams. Taking off at a dead run, I get from one side of the house to the other quicker than I ever thought possible. The sight of blood, glass and other debris scattered all of the room is shocking. The huge bay window is completely gone. The one thing I don’t see is Bristol. I am about to lose my fucking mind. My pregnant wife has been forcibly taken from our home and I don’t have the skills to get her back. I dial 911 immediately and wait for the police to arrive. In those few precious minutes, I think about who could have done this and why.

I have a good idea of who is behind this shit show. Dante Briggs just messed with the wrong man. Professionally, I could care less about what the man did to me. But this shit here, taking my wife? This is personal.

The police arrive and I explain as best I can what happened, what I know. Bristol and I have made headlines, getting married so quickly like we did but I love my wife and their line of questioning is starting to piss me off and I tell them as such.

Once I show them the tapes from the security cameras, they start asking me questions about Dante, who is clearly visible on the tape putting his hands on my wife. Bristol isn’t making it easy for him to take her. That’s my girl. I watched as he gets her into the trunk of his piece of shit car and drives out of view.
