To further hone his skills as a virtual activist, Mansour participated in intensive courses on civil disobedience and strategic planning sponsored by the Academy of Change (Academeyet el Taghiir). He became good friends with one of its founders, Wael Adel. In an interview with the author in 2012, Wael Adel talked about the kinds of people they hoped to reach through the Academy:
We initially didn’t have specific youth in mind, but we were hoping for people like AbdelRahman. A page like “We Are All Khaled Said” was extremely important for spreading our ideas. I can’t claim the page is based on our ideas, but it played a key role in spreading them. The same goes for the 6th of April page. When I see these pages posting words like “It’s our generation’s right to try … to present an experience from which the next generations can learn,” I feel good because this is the exact slogan we used in the Academy of Change website a few years back. So it’s not like we were telling anyone what to do, or directly feeding them ideas. They took ideas from us and decided themselves what to use and spread.
