A CV shaft coupling with a thrust bearing can reduce vibration and simplify installation of a new engine. I could unfortunely not fit one in Roobarb, as there was not enough space.

This sketch shows the different forces that affect the drive train, and illustrates with red arcs the main points where noise is transferred to the hull. With a CV coupling the engine can be installed level, making the installation easier and improving the engine’s internal lubrication.

Aquadrive couplings were developed from the original Scatra couplings. Unicardan developed the first Aquadrive coupling in 1977.
