A week had passed since I’d last seen or talked to Hendrix. It would be a lie if I said he wasn’t on my mind. I took it upon myself to make myself even more busy. Since my mom saw my vision board for Hendrix’s celebration, she’d been telling everybody she knows I was an event planner. Now I was currently working on planning a baby shower for the manager at the local store who always helped my mom with her coupons when she went. I was on my way to the event space, where Hendrix’s event would take place. I decided to show this location to the couple I was helping to plan the baby shower.

I arrived ten minutes earlier than the time I told her to arrive. Again, I was an on-time person. I wanted to make sure I remained professional as possible by beating them here. I walked inside, adjusting the flowy yellow romper I wore. I balanced myself on the platform sandals to make sure I didn’t end up falling on my face. After locking my mother’s car with the key fob, I made my way inside. I thought about how, eventually, I would have to get my own car. My mother was being super generous with letting me use her car. However, it was becoming an inconvenience. I made a mental note to make it my duty when this consultation ended, to find a car.

I made it into the hall and noticed a few people standing in the corner. I paid them no attention. I pulled out my planner and got situated at a table. When I opened my planner, there was a small sample fabric of the color Hendrix had decided to use for his party. I rubbed my fingers along the silkiness of the fabric. My thoughts were back on the last time we spent together. After Hendrix and I had rounds of making each other cum that night, I lay in his bed, watching him. He snored so loud, but it didn’t bother me. It never did. I smiled as I thought about the good times we had. At that moment, I thought Hendrix was going to wake up and realize marrying Alicia was a mistake. I thought Hendrix was going to apologize for the past and make everything right. However, I was wrong.

I heard the entire conversation from behind the door. I had to dig deep for the strength to keep me from bursting open the door and pulling every single dread out of Hendrix’s hair. That night, I thought things were on the potential to turn the other way for us. After everything he said to Hallie, the small little bit of hope I had buried, washed away.

“Excuse me?” a deep voice said, which caused me to drop the fabric.

I looked up, and there stood a man resembling Shemar Moore yet younger. He had a beard that looked to be well kept. He had little hair, but he wasn’t bald either.
