UNSTEADY, BUT JUST LIKE I fucking told her to, she got in the SUV.

My dick pulsed at her willing submission.

“Damian.” Breathless, sexy as fuck, my name on her lips was everything I never knew I wanted to hear.

“What, gorgeous?” I pulled her seat belt out and reached across her lap just because I could.

She tracked my movements with a sharp inhale, then brought her sexy, dark gaze back to mine. “I apologize.” Her voice got quiet. “For being forward.”

I grinned. “That wasn’t being forward.” I paused, holding her gaze. “This is.” I leaned forward and brought my lips to her ear as I slid a hand halfway up her thigh.

Her gasp filled the interior of the car.

I dropped my voice and made her another fucking promise. “Next time I touch you like that, I’m gonna make you come.” Nipping her ear, I kissed her cheek and squeezed her luscious thigh. Then I stepped back and shut her door before I lost all my restraint.

Circling the back of the vehicle, I scanned the house to see if anyone had witnessed our kiss, but no one was around, her useless security included.

Collins stood in front his Escalade and smirked as he watched me. “Thousand bucks you don’t even make it till sundown before getting a taste of that trouble.”

“You’re fucked-up, you know that?” I scanned the grounds.

A rare smile stretched his lips. “You don’t know the half of it.”

“Do yourself a favor. Don’t ever smile if you’re trying to get laid.” Fucker was scarier when he did.

“Who says I gotta try to get laid, pretty boy?”

Christ. I held a hand up. “I don’t even want to know.” Collins had a reputation for going through women like they were a change of clothes, but in truth, I’d never seen him with anyone. “Just keep up. We’re going to her gallery.”

“Sure thing, boss.”

I got behind the wheel and, not gonna lie, I held my breath when I turned the key. I trusted Collins with my life, but nothing was ever failsafe. When nothing exploded, I threw the vehicle into drive and glanced at Calandra.

She had her hand over her heart.

I reached for her. “You’re all good, babe. I’m not gonna let anything happen to you.”

Inhaling, she squeezed my fingers and let her breath out slow. “I guess if the vehicle was going to explode, we wouldn’t know it.”

“No, we wouldn’t.” We’d be dead instantly. I’d seen it enough times to know.

She glanced at me. “And that doesn’t scare you?”

I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her knuckles once, mostly to school my expression against the memories I tried not to think about. “I served in Afghanistan. If you let fear rule you, you’re as good as dead.”

She pulled her hand back only to twist it up with her other hand in her lap. “I can’t imagine what you went through.”

I smiled and let her have her nervous gesture, even though it pissed me the hell off why she had it in the first place.
