‘We’re all scared. The thing is, we’re all cave men and our brain is scared of something new because this might eat us, so we see new things and think: danger, fear. We do things the way we’ve always done them – that’s our reptilian brain. But we don’t need to run away. To deal with what’s going on in our brain we need to understand that this is happening. With this understanding, instead of reacting in our usual unconscious way (by running away from what we fear, or avoiding change), the key is to become conscious and ask: What’s going on? Then we can choose to respond.

Fear and excitement feel the same in the body. That’s the way you interpret and work with the feeling.

If you look at a negative reaction in an emotional way, you’ll end up believing it and this belief will drive you: I’m scared, I’m not good enough, I’ll fail. Instead you want to search for your healthy drivers: I want to make a difference, I want to entertain, I want to look after people.’
