“Thank you for staying with her,” Callie says to me the next morning as she enters the room. “Did you stay in bed with her all night?”

I’m not sure if there’s a reprimand in her voice or not, but I don’t give a fuck. “Yes.”

She nods. “She’s been through a lot,” she tells me as she looks at her daughter, who’s pressed against me. “She’s going to have nightmares for a long time.”

“Yeah, those fuckers brandin’ her is goin’ to be a constant reminder too.”

She presses a shaky hand against her chest. “Yeah, having those men ejaculate on her is something else she’ll never forget. I just hope with love and therapy, she’ll be able to heal from the trauma she’s faced.”

I stare at the bright silver-haired woman as her words hit me. “They fuckin’ what?”

She blinks rapidly as she watches me. “Oh, you didn’t know?” She shakes her head. “I thought you did when you said branded…” she trails off.

I reach for Chloe’s nightdress and raise the hem to her thigh, where the Dirty Demons insignia is. “I meant this.”

Callie’s eyes harden at the brand on her daughter’s leg.

“Tell me what happened.” It’s a demand. Now I know those fuckers did that shit to her, I’m going to make the pain they will feel even more painful than they could have ever thought.

She shakes her head, tears shining in her eyes.

“I thought you knew,” she whispers. She pulls in a ragged breath. “Those animals stood in front of her and made themselves come all over her.” Her voice is soft and shaky as tears roll down her cheeks. “My baby was subjected to those filthy fucking animals, and there’s nothing we can do about it. We should have protected her. That’s our job as her parents, and we failed her.”

“No,” I snarl as I shake my head. “This is not on you or Denis. This is on the cunts who took my woman. This wasn’t your fault. This is down to Sean Kelly and those Dirty Demons.” Fuck, those bastards deserve to be hung for the shit they’ve done. “They’re goin’ to be in a world of hurt when they die. They’ll beg for mercy.”

Her lip curls. “I've lived my life knowing who and what my family are. Stephen is like a brother to me. He kills and he enjoys it. He loves the thrill of it. My brother is the same. And I get it. I understand that the things they have done and the things they have seen have caused them to be who they are. I’m not one who gets off on death, but I will tell you this. For what those animals did to my daughter, they deserve everything they’re gonna get, and I hope to God it hurts.” Her chest heaves as she clenches her fists. “And yes, my uncle has Sean Kelly. He is keeping him until we arrive back in Dublin.”

I smile. Another bastard for me to take down. “Good.”

“Pyro,” she says, and there’s something about her voice that has me on alert.
