Chapter Eleven
Jessyka looked over at Fiona as they pulled up to Caroline and Wolf’s house. She wasn’t sure about this. While she liked all of the women, a slumber party was a bit beyond what she was used to.
“Maybe you should take me back home, Fiona.”
“No way. This is tradition. Every time the guys get sent off on a mission we all get together and get drunk and cry and worry about them, then we get on with life until they get home. You’re one of us now, so you belong here with us.”
The whole “being one of them now” was still so unreal to Jessyka. It hadn’t taken long for the guys, and their women, to figure out her and Kason’s relationship had changed. Hell, the guys had taken one look at the hickey on Kason’s chest the first time they’d had PT and known. The same with the girls when they’d seen the not-so-subtle mark Kason had left on her neck.
Jess blushed, but Summer had just given her a huge hug and said, “Told you so.”
A week after Jess and Kason had solidified their new relationship, the team had been called on a mission. They couldn’t say where they were going or when they’d be back. That was the hardest part about being with a SEAL. They’d get called off on the spur of the moment and couldn’t say anything about where they were going or when they might return.
Jess had cried a bit, but Kason just held her tight and told her to trust him. That he knew what he was doing and so did the team. They’d be back as soon as they could.
So here she was, packed for a slumber party of all things. Mr. Davis had given her the night off from Aces and she was apparently stuck until she could escape in the morning.
“Hey you guys! It’s about time you got here!” Caroline was standing at the front door waving frantically at them.
“Looks like they started without us,” Fiona said laughing as she got their bags out of the trunk of the car.
And they had gotten started without them. Once they’d gotten inside it was obvious Caroline and Alabama were already three sheets to the wind and Summer and Cheyenne weren’t too far behind them.
“We’re so glad you’re here, Jess! Seriously! We just knew Kason would find someone soon, we just had no idea it would be you! You’re awesome!”
Jess could just smile at her.
“Here! You have to catch up! Try this! We just invented it tonight!” Alabama thrust a glass filled with what looked like milk in it. “I know it looks gross, but try it anyway!”
Jessyka took a small sip, dreading what it would taste like, and looked up in surprise.
“Ha! Told you it was good! Tastes like the milk left over after you’ve eaten a bowl of cinnamon cereal doesn’t it?”
“Oh my God! That’s exactly what it tastes like! What is it?” Jess couldn’t believe how good the drink tasted. She wasn’t one for the taste of hard alcohol, but she couldn’t really taste anything in this.
