REAGAN
Reagan caught sight of a smirking Ginny as she rounded the corner. âSorry,â she mouthed to her hostess.
The front door flew open. âDennis.â Reagan tried to cross the living room to him, but Corbin stepped in the way, blocking her.
Reagan grabbed Corbinâs arm and tried to move him out of the way. It was such a relief to finally touch him, even if he was in her way. Forget about claiming him to the state, her wolf wanted to howl it to the world. Now they had to finish things upâshe wanted his teeth sunk deep into her neck, and she wanted it now. Neither Ross nor any amount his asshole enforcers was going to keep her from, as Trolly said, riding Corbin later. âDennis,â she repeated herself and gave Corbin another little shove out of her way. He didnât budge, but he did let her step closer to Timâs brother. âThank you for letting usââ
Dennis put up his hand. âAnytime, but next time make sure you leave the trash in Pennsylvania. We only caught one of them. The other two fled over the creek into bear territory.â Dennis stood as tall as she remembered, but more gray peppered his dark hair. âI told that SOB Allen that if he ever stepped on my land again, I would gut him and ship him back to PA in a box.â Dennis turned and took a robe from Ginny.
âUncle Dennis, Iâve got pancakes if you want some?â Trolly poked her head out from the swinging kitchen door.
âThanks. Iâll be there in a minute. Do you have enough for some of the guys?â Dennis cleared his throat and winked at Ginny. She sighed.
âUh. Iâll make more.â Trolly vanished.
Dennis put the robe on and pointed at Reagan and Corbin. âI want to talk to both of you in my study.â He marched past the staircase to the door. Reagan had never been in the room. The last time she was there, sheâd been younger than Trolly, which wasnât saying much. A stone fireplace opposed an oak desk, thick curtains hung over the window, and on a bookcase next to the fireplace, a trio of taxidermied birds kept watch over the room. âHave a seat.â He motioned to the leather sofa in front of the desk, which he plopped down at.
Reagan sat next to Corbin, her bare calf touching his.
âWhat we talk about doesnât leave this room.â Dennis steepled his fingers and narrowed his eyes. âI donât know you, Corbin. But as Reaganâs mate . . .â He cocked his head. â. . . youâre not mated.â
âWe havenât mated yet. Itâs kind of new, and with Allen sending his enforcers after us, we . . . Iââ Reagan whipped her head between the males in the room. Corbin wasnât saying much. His lips might as well have been super-glued shut.
Dennis leaned back in his chair. The thing groaned with a sharp squeal. âWhere are you from, son?â
Corbinâs long lashes blinked to the floor and to Dennis.
