Woodrow Wilson appointed Taft chief justice of the Supreme Court. Taft, the only president to serve on the nation’s highest court, considered this the highlight of his career. As chief justice, he administered the oath of office to Presidents Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. He served from 1918 until 1930.

Tours and lectures are offered when the court is not in session; no tours are offered during the summer.
