Nick and Aspen were both waiting in the upstairs sitting room when I got up there. Both had glasses of Scotch in hand, and Aspen handed me one before giving me a hug. "You've been gone for way too long," he teased.

"I know, I know. Work just gets away from me sometimes." It had always been one of my flaws. I tended to spend more time focused on work than anything else. It helped make the company as successful as it was, but it usually meant neglecting the rest of my life. We'd all been inseparable as kids, but I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen any of my brothers.

Nick was next to hug me, wrapping his arms tight around me like he wanted to squeeze me in half. I grunted as the wind was knocked from my lungs. And here I'd thought Holly's flying jump into my arms had been bad! "It's good to see you too, Nicky," I said, struggling to breathe. "Did you miss me?"

"Always," he said, grinning as he released me and stepped back.

“Where’s Jack?” I asked next. His daughter had nearly bowled me over downstairs, but I hadn’t seen my other older brother yet.

Nick shrugged. “He said he might be a little late getting here, so he’d sent Emma and Holly out ahead. You know how it is, being so busy. It really is good to see you, little bro. I hope you're at least enjoying turning that company of yours into a virtual empire."

I smirked at him and shrugged. I couldn't deny that I did enjoy my work, but it wasn't just me that made the company so successful. I had an entire group of people who helped Frost Industries rise from a simple startup to the worldwide powerhouse it was. Jade was one of those people, and it really was going to hurt to lose her. No matter how much she insisted she was replaceable, I knew it wouldn't be easy to find someone as capable as she was.

"Well, at least you found time to date!" Aspen said gleefully as he put his arm around my shoulders and lead me over to the large armchairs arranged around a TV mounted on the wall. The TV was off, but it was the best place for us all to sit and talk, to catch up with each other.

I raised an eyebrow at him, not quite sure what he was talking about. He didn't sound sarcastic, but I couldn't remember the last time I'd gone on an actual date. The only women I ever tended to go out with were ones who were escorting me to parties and balls. When was the last time I actually went out with someone? Took a woman out to dinner? Saw a show? God, I really needed some time off once this project was over with. Otherwise I was liable to die alone, leaving nothing to show for my life except my company.

"What the hell are you on about?" I asked, cutting right to the point.
