Chapter 3
Honoring Those Who Come To Heal
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophetâs reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous manâs reward.
âMatthew 10:41, KJV
Honor means âvalue, esteem, precious.â To honor a man or woman of God means to value and to esteem them. We must recognize that the anointing is a precious thing. It is priceless. You cannot buy the anointing. It is given by the grace of God. We must learn to honor ministry gifts. When you dishonor ministry gifts, you will not be blessed by the anointing that is in them. In other words, if you do not honor the gift of healing, you will not be healed.
Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country. But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.
âLuke 4:24-27
Elijah and Elisha, two anointed men of God, were in the midst of Israel for years. There were many widows who could have received a miracle through Elijah, but only one did, and six was a Gentile. No other widow put a demand on his anointing. Every leper in Israel could have been healed through Elisha, but no other leper put a demand on his anointing but Naaman. Both Elijah and Elisha had miracle and healing anointings. Those miracles and healings were available to Godâs people. They were walking reservoirs of the anointing. But no one cast their bucket in to draw from the pool of the anointing. No one used their faith to receive from these men of God except one Gentile woman art Naaman the Syrian.
Jesus said these men were not accepted in their own country In other words, these men were not valued or esteemed by Israel. Their ministries were rejected and despised. As a result, many widows perished during the famine, and many lepers died of leprosy. This was not the will of the Lord. It was the will of the Lord for them to receive healing and deliverance. This kind of rejection was not uncommon to Jesus. As we have mentioned in previous chapters, Jesus was not honored in His own hometown.
Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, âWhere did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed
