Reflective practice 5.3

Level 4

Consider the following types of questions that could be used during an interview. Record what they mean to you and when they should or should not be used.

•Open-ended.

•Specific closed.

•Forced choice.

•Multiple.

•Leading.

Closure

The closure stage is used to close the interview in a standard way. It is important to ensure that the closure section of the interview is planned and structured to ensure that all the information has been gathered and does not end abruptly. You should summarise the interview with time afforded to the interviewee to clarify any areas of the summarisation. Allow time for this to be completed so that it is not rushed. The interviewer should record the time and date of the conclusion of the interview. Once the interview is concluded and any recording stopped, the interviewer should explain to the interviewee what will happen next.
