You call your opponents flop bet. Now, you have nothing. If you hit a 7 it might not be good. However, you can represent many types of hands. There is a straight draw and a flush draw on the flop. There are several cards which you can bet on the turn, or check raise.

Suppose the turn was

This card is good to bluff because it completes several draws: You might have called the flop with: KQ, 78, or any two clubs. If your opponent is tight, then you can raise his bet and he is going to be in a bad spot.

If you are out of position it is important to plan you actions. Suppose you check the turn and then check raise your opponent. If they call, you have to evaluate. You will only win the pot by firing a bluff on the river. You cannot check and plan on check raising the river. Too often a person will check behind.
