Kelly stretched and smiled. It was the first time in a long time she’d slept so soundly—even though she’d awakened several times during the night to Levi’s mouth blazing hot trails of liquid fire all over her body. They’d repeatedly made love throughout the night, and she knew that as soon as she moved from the bed, her body was going to protest.

When Kelly opened her eyes, she saw a tiny window across the room. Just beyond the dingy glass the sky was gray and appeared to be heavy with thick clouds, but judging from the darkness, it was still early.

Slowly she turned her head and studied Levi as he slept. Thick black lashes rested against copper colored cheeks, relaxed in sleep. His lips were slightly parted as he quietly snored. Kelly’s eyes lingered on his lips, remembering how they burned against her skin. She could clearly remember how they’d felt as they’d tenderly sucked on the most intimate parts of her body, forcing and driving her higher and higher each time. Her heart picked up a few beats as her mind took off in another direction.

This time she was remembering what it had been like to allow him to tease and torment her body with such sinfully delicious methods. She’d never thought that being bound and blindfolded could hold so much pleasure and yet, she found herself aching to further explore that side of herself. She already knew she liked it when Levi smacked her on the bare ass. Would she like other things as well? What other things were there?

As her body began to heat up simply by thinking about the things they’d done, her eyes traveled over Levi’s bare back. The strong muscles of his shoulders were spattered with freckles, giving him a slightly more boyish charm. In the middle of his back was a giant Celtic cross. The arms of the cross stretched from one shoulder blade to the other, while the bottom stopped below the small of his back. Inside the cross were names. There were at least two dozen. Kelly frowned, wondering what it meant.

“Are you enjoying what you’re seeing?” came a sleepy voice.

Kelly jumped a little and sat up, resting her head against the headboard. She tucked the sheet around her naked form. “Very much so,” she said honestly.

“You’re wondering about the cross?” Levi asked.

She nodded. “I don’t want to pry.”

“It’s not prying if I offer to tell you,” he said as he turned on his side and propped his head on his hand. The sheet hung low on his hip and Kelly couldn’t help but let her gaze slip to his front. She quickly jerked her gaze up but it was too late. He was smiling broadly at her.

“Some of the names are of the people I couldn’t save. Others are family members I’ve lost over the years.”

“Really?” she asked.

Levi nodded. “Lee and Mac each have one as well. Some are the same, but not all of them. We’ve worked with different departments for a little over twenty one years.
