EXPATRIATE ASSOCIATIONS

Most expatriate communities in Peru are small and there are only a handful of associations or clubs per community, if that. Your embassy will have a list of them. For British visitors the Peruvian-British Cultural Association provides a good library and occasional cultural events, and can facilitate contact with other long-term British residents. The North American equivalent is the ICPNA (Instituto Cultural Peruano-Norte Americano), which is increasing its presence across Peru. Both offer language classes and an opportunity to meet local people interested in the English-speaking worlds.

For those planning to travel widely within the country a useful group is the South American Explorers Club (www.saexplorers.org).
