The Centro Internazionale di Studi Primo Levi fosters the public awareness of the life and works of Primo Levi, a survivor of Auschwitz and one of the most distinguished Italian authors of the twentieth century. This professional chemist and intellectual was himself particularly committed to informing the younger generations.

The centre is based in Turin, where Primo Levi lived from 1919 to 1987. It houses a collection of editions of his works, translations of those works into other languages, critical studies of them, and various kinds of written and audiovisual documentation of the author and the reception of his writings. It supports scholarly research and organizes events such as the Primo Levi Lecture, which is held every autumn.

The centre was founded in April 2008 on the joint initiative of the Piedmontese Regional Council, Turin City Council, the Turinese Provincial Council, the Company of San Paolo, the Jewish Community of Turin, the Foundation for Books, Culture and Music, and Primo Levi’s family.
