While Paxton shows Esmerelda where she’ll be staying, I putter around the cabin. He’s definitely a neat freak because there’s nothing for me to do. Hell, he’s already folded the laundry and put it away. Not sure I can live like that, because I tend to leave it in the dryer until it’s needed.
I decide to take a bath to see if I can relax a little bit.
Mate likes hairy legs.
“Can I please, at least right now, have clean-shaven legs?” I ask as I head into the bathroom. It truly is a work of art, with a separate tub that’s big enough for two. I feel her huff as she plops down.
If you must. He won’t care.
“I know he won’t, I saw the look in his eyes and smelled his desire. But I care and you and I are one, so shouldn’t you be on my side here?” I realize I’m pleading with her, but dammit, something has got to give. My whole world has turned upside down and I need to retain some control.
Fine. Well, I know what I mean when I say that word; just hope she doesn’t feel that way.
“Thank you,” I whisper before slipping into the tub. While she and I were arguing, I tossed in some fragrant bath salts and heave a sigh of relief as the warm water envelopes me. “Damn, this feels good, doesn’t it?” I ask.
I enjoy water.
“Yeah, I figured as much seeing as you turned me yesterday.” I realize how funny it is to be talking to myself and start giggling. “It wasn’t humorous when it happened, but now it’s hysterical to think about what you did!” She makes a noise that sounds suspiciously like a giggle and that sets me off again. “Maybe this shifter thing won’t be so bad.”
You’ll enjoy the stamina.
“Look, Queen Snarky, I can’t deny that he makes me want to do things, but the hype is more than the reality. At least in my experience.”
Because it wasn’t your mate.
“You sound like a broken record sometimes, you know that?” I question as I start shaving my legs. I don’t worry about my hoo-ha, opting to trim it up instead. I’ve never understood that craze because it seems to be almost more trouble than it’s worth. It takes a lot of time and maintenance and I barely like picking up my razor in the first place. If long hair on my legs didn’t itch and hurt so bad when I wore pants, I’d say fuck it and go all natural.
So that’s why you like to keep it short?
“Yeah, it drives me crazy in human form. Can we compromise? A little bit, at least?”
Fine, you can shave, but I reserve the right to let it grow back at any time.
I roll my eyes. “Okay, drama mama, if you must. Now, I have a mate to find. Do you think he’ll want me?”
Mate wants us.
“Thanks for your vote of confidence.” I finish up my task and get out of the tub, grabbing a huge fluffy towel to dry off.
