“They appear to be doing perfectly adequate. We must push them to their limits, or else we risk never knowing their potential.” Lucifer turned. “Our scientists were right. This group was much better than our previous iterations. I am glad we did not stop fabricating.”

“May I remind you, love, that our intention was to observe her until she was ready to come to us?”

Lucifer took a few steps and swept his robe over the glossy floor. He would not give up finding a reason to punish Luna for a sin she did not commit. Her father ruined years of careful evolution, and Lucifer could have almost walked over the bridge to the Ancestor, but now must start again building humanity from scratch. “Then we must continue pushing her to extremes from where she cannot return. We shall erase her humanity, her imperfect humanity, and make her one of us, fully. She must earn her place, if she is to be among us.”
