Ebru flings open my bedroom door. “Samara, get up. Time is of the essence.” I crack open my eyes and hear Thom rousting Loren in much the same manner.

Sophie slips past Ebru and crawls into my bed. “It’s 3:00am. Why are you getting us up now? I’m so tired.” Her last words are muffled under my duvet.

“No time to explain. You need to pack a bag and leave.” Message delivered, Ebru races back down the hallway toward her bedroom suite.

Thom pokes his head into my room. Loren waits in the hallway behind him. “Ebru had a vision. It seems Flamecraft will arrive here with an entourage. It’ll be safer for you to move until we can arrange a different attack strategy.” He taps the doorjamb as a myriad of emotions flow across his tattooed face. “Samara, if anything happens to Sophie, I will hold you personally responsible.”

“What?” Thom ignores my query and follows Ebru down the hallway. Loren pops into the room and I pin him with my steely gaze. “Seriously, what the hell was that?”

“Don’t look at me. I’m just a level nine Combat Mage who is viewed as incapable of protecting my baby sister.”

“I can take care of myself.” Sophie leaps out of bed and strides past her brother, into the hallway. “And I am not a baby.”

“Dammit.” I fling the covers off of me and stomp toward the hallway. “I’ll deal with Sophie. You go pack.”

“Any thoughts on where we should go?”

“Leila’s house may be compromised, but we could use a Seer on our team, and your parents are there, too. Two more Transporters will make things easier, especially if we have to move again.”

“And Bo?”

“We’ll pick him up on the way out.” There’s no way I’m leaving him here. Which is kinda ironic since this is his home.
