Chapter 21

Annabelle

I reach out and pluck at the small bow just above her hip that is keeping her dress closed. I tug on it gently and step closer as her dress falls apart, not enough to expose her body to me, but enough to entice.

I flick the fabric away from her, dragging it down so that it drops to the floor in a silken pool.

My eyes take her in hungrily. She is beautiful. I’ve fucked females before, but only for fun. There were no feelings involved one way or the other. This is new and exciting. It makes my heart beat that bit faster.

She reaches out to the hem of my vest top and pulls it up and over my head. I hear her breath catch. “Get on the bed,” she murmurs.

I do as she asks, crawling into the middle and then turning around.

“Lie down,” she instructs.

I do, flicking the zipper on my jeans undone.

She gives me a soft giggle and pulls my jeans off me to dump on the floor.

Her eyes go wide as she takes in the branded ‘K’ on my mound. “Oh,” she breathes out, tentatively touching it with her cool fingers. She traces the shape of it, her eyes hooded. “He really loves you,” she murmurs.

I want to ask her how she knows that about him, but I don’t. Instead, I brush it aside with a scoff. “It’s possession, nothing more.”

Her eyes shoot up to mine. “No,” she says, shaking her head. “He wouldn’t do this.”

Now, I can’t resist. “How do you know so much about him?” I ask.

She laughs gently. “We were close once, and no, not in that sense. When Lucifer created us, we had our purpose, but no catalyst. Once he found his Demon Bound, we had to scatter as we had no idea if his child would be the Anti-Christ or not, and so on and so forth.”

“I understand,” I say. She seems sad, wistful.

“My touch can kill a being if I choose it. It took centuries before I could control it properly, I damaged everything that I touched. It broke something in me, I think. Something that I never recovered from. But he listened to me when I talked and he understood, I think.”

“Friends,” I murmur.

“Perhaps,” she says, losing the sadness as quickly as it came. “It may have been many centuries since we spent any time together, but I don’t think he has changed. At all. Except with you. His expression lightens when he looks at you, he has made you his.”

“I also made him mine,” I point out. “He did this in retaliation.”

“I don’t believe that. That’s petty and War doesn’t do things that are insignificant.”

“You know him better than I do, I find that troubling,” I say, sitting up and leaning on my elbows.

“Don’t read into it, Belle. You’ve known him for five minutes. He and I were made from Lucifer’s blood at the very beginning.”

Is it me or does that not make it any better? Still, she has a point.
