Waking in a fog, she searched around her to establish her surroundings. Strewn across her bed were her notes and crumpled pieces of paper. Gathering them up, she clambered out of bed.

Pulling back the curtains, she welcomed the new day. During her hours of writing, she had experienced an enlightening fact. Instantly recognising she had hardly thought about Alex in the last few weeks. Even when she was answering some of the queries on her website, she had not even given a thought to being Alex. In her book that was real progress. Daisy knew she still had not taken full control of her life. She had almost sleep walked into a world not of her conscious making. Was she in danger of fulfilling someone else’s needs rather than her own? She had also come to understand during the early hours how much her own story had woven through the story of the prince and princess. She had been acting out in words her own loss and battles.

Daisy could see Bentley standing patiently by her fence. An idea formulated in her exhausted brain. She decided to act before it faded away.

After breakfast Daisy made her first call of the day.

‘Daisy, it’s great to hear from you. How are you doing?’ Greg’s relief was evident in his tone.

‘It’s done Greg. I’m emailing it over as we speak. Be prepared though I’ve changed a few things and it’s altered where the story ends. Let me know as soon as you’ve read it.’ Pressing send as she was talking, Daisy sent a little prayer with it.

‘Changed how much change? Should I be worried?’

‘No, you should be glad and happy and signing with relief. I’ve delivered. Look, just read it and then let me know. I have some errands to run so don’t panic if you can’t get hold of me.’

‘Actually, Daisy there is something I need to run by you. I was going to wait but what the hell. There’s a movie deal in the offing for the whole trilogy. We need to have a serious talk.’

Daisy almost fell into the chair dropping the phone as she did.

‘Hello, Daisy, are you there?’

Breathe Daisy, just breathe you’ve got this. Picking up her phone, she cut Greg off.

Daisy took a moment to drink in what Greg had just announced. A movie? She never saw that coming. Never in a million years had she ever thought about a film.

Her phone buzzed, she answered.

‘Greg sorry I dropped the phone. I’m stunned. I don’t know what to say. I was never expecting anything like that.’

‘Me neither, but it happens. One of your biggest fans is a director. Look, one thing at a time. I’ll read it and get back to you. It is so fantastic. Great news, isn’t it?’

Laughing and feeling giddy Daisy agreed.

She needed to share this awesome news and couldn’t get hold of anyone. Typical just when she wanted to speak to them. Leaving messages for her dad and Sarah felt a bit of an anti- climax.
