17.5 Neurological Symptoms

Spinal cord compression owing to the thoracic lesion may manifest as various neurological symptoms depending on the level of the lesion. Additionally, owing to the rarity of thoracic myelopathy, its diagnosis is often delayed [15, 16], or it is misdiagnosed as cervical or lumbar disorders. OPLL is mainly distributed in the upper to middle thoracic segment, whereas OLF is mainly distributed at the lower thoracic segment. However, in some cases, multiple cord compression by multi-segmental OPLL and/or OLF makes it difficult to identify the most affected lesion.
