The Casablanca Effect

Playfair considered examples such as these as evidence of the Casablanca effect. He derived this term from Humphrey Bogart’s famous line in the movie Casablanca, when his ex-lover, Ingrid Bergman, appears: “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”

Some coincidences seem so coincidental they beg for another explanation.

This suspicion surfaces even for skeptics such as Peter Watson, who wrote, “Are all the coincidences that are being collected at Minnesota a sort of camouflage, a signal for something else that is going on at a deeper level?”18 Playfair gave a yes answer to Watson’s query, and so do I. Playfair: “Something … continues to be demonstrated and reported regularly, with identical twins providing more than their fair share of such reports, despite the fact that there are still those who refuse to admit its existence, or even the possibility of its existence.”

I suggest that this “something” is an expression of the One Mind.
