Why was she telling Cian O'Neill her entire life story? How had that happened? Holly splashed warm water on her face and studied her reflection in the small round mirror over his pedestal sink. A troubled face stared back at her.

She was getting too comfortable. She should make an excuse and head out now. Avoid getting drawn deeper into his net. It would cost her some cash, but she could find a taxi willing to go into Jamie's suburban neighborhood. She could leave.

Except she didn't want to. It was easy to talk to Cian and she hadn't made many friends of her own in Boston yet. The Whelan crew had welcomed her with open arms, but it was hard not to think of them as Eliza's people. A part of her, a large part at that moment, wanted Cian to be hers.

She dried her face with a hand towel and finger-combed her hair.

Yup. She could protest all she wanted, but Cian wasn't wrong. They had chemistry. Maybe even something more, but exploring that possibility was the definition of dangerous.

Holly had handed her heart to a musician before. Kyle Thompson had sworn they were soul mates when he convinced her to leave school to join his band on tour. Having a soul mate hadn't stopped him from sleeping with groupies.

The memory still brought a sharp stab of pain to her gut. He hadn't even acted remorseful. Apparently, she was supposed to expect him to “hang out,” as he put it, with fans.

It wasn't fair to assume that Cian would do the same thing, but it would be foolish to think he wouldn't have plenty of opportunities. She'd seen how people reacted to his music. Smart girls could be fooled once, after that they had to learn how to protect their hearts.

Holly folded the hand towel into thirds and hung it back on its bar. If she didn't head back out soon he'd send a search party.

She patted her pocket, found a tube of lip gloss and put some on. The words to her favorite Clash song rang in her ears. Stay or go: Holly was in trouble.

It was time to lighten the mood. No more sharing of life stories. Holly smiled broadly and pushed open the door. “I'm beyond jealous of your tub,” she announced, still standing in the doorframe. “It's huge. Jamie's place only has showers. I told Eliza only a man would buy a house that doesn't have a single bath tub.”

What would they do when they had kids? What would Eliza do when she needed a good soak? Between being at school, following Kyle's stupid band and coming to Boston to hide from her screwed up life, Holly hadn't taken a bath in over a year. Cian's giant claw foot tub looked like heaven.

A slow smile spread across his lips. “Darlin', you are welcome to use that tub any time you want. Hell, I'll even stock up on fancy bubble bath for you.”

“If I let you join me you mean.
