OUTSIDE OF EVERYTHING
You are the shadow of my solitude
As I wander alone over the world
And I have not seen your gaze.
The forest searches for its trees
And every day it becomes harder for me
Not to know the expressions of your face
I get lost in your words
And find myself in them
More than in my own
And I get lost in your footsteps
But I follow your oblivion
And lose myself in your memories
Of streets which were never ours
You call me seducer
And I'm the flame of your call
In Madrid you dismiss me
In streets where I never was
Your footsteps bring me
Memories of forgotten rivers
Cakes and candies are sad memories
Suitcases stuffed and no space for our toys
And voyages long as a man's life
Long voyages tracing treeless roads
Tell me more about your parallel lives
In those we met so many times
That in this reality we forget
The needs of the body, of touch
Tell me more about your rejected memories
In the corners of your mind
Where streets vanish
And today I'm alone, alone like the first man
Today I'm alone because you are not with me
Alone in a world where woman is yet to be born
And the years feel heavy to me, like a loaded pack
On my back which is so weary of suffering
Of not finding the cervicals of my happiness
Because what I want today is to hear your voice
In my half deaf ears
Of not having heard you throughout my years
And yes, I can write the saddest verses
But I tell myself one should look towards the future
Towards that future where I see us together
But I don't understand how or when
That already ripe future of those who know
That there's no future in the world
And that time is something we imagine
When we don't understand God
That time is something we invent
So that we can bear death
And we continue to run along the deserted streets
Your hand in my hand
And your face in my eyes
My face in your memory
We continue to run through the years
Which will not return
But which will never be able to vanish again
The years when we searched for each other
Along parallel streets
Rejecting the possibility of meeting
Because then life would not make sense any longer
Let alone the world
To two who are one
The reincarnation
Of thousands of years together
And we had to learn to walk alone in this world
So that we could meet again through words
Words which live outside time and body
Outside of everything but
Not
Outside us.
