Consider the use of “sage”—“le sage instituteur” and “quelque homme sage”—at the beginning and end, respectively, of the three chapters “Du peuple,” which treat the “matter” of the Législateur: II, 8, 1 and II, 10, 6, pp. 384 and 391.
