Plenty of repetition there, and the danger is that it throws over poetic diction altogether, becoming indistinguishable from the grousing of an old man in public. It is the rhetoric of a bore: just as well Bunting uses it self-consciously to put the poeticism of the poem in question.
Thomas won’t take as many risks. His repetitions not only steer clear of the political, despite the opening ‘Especially when’; they help to license other experimental moments in the poem. For example:
The heart is drained that, spelling in the scurry
Of chemic blood, warned of the coming fury.
