Chapter Sixteen
They made it home after a quick stop at the grocery store where Mia rushed in for a few quick additions for the soup. Mia to hurried into the house to make sure that dinner was underway. They left Oliverâs truck parked by his quarters with the back filled with furniture boxes. Mia put Oliver in charge of setting the table after showing him carefully which sides were the correct placement for the utensils and napkins. She chopped up a salad and prepared a dish with shredded cheese, bacon pieces, and green onion to sprinkle on the soup. Tasting the soup, she made a few adjustments to the seasoning and turned it off to cool slightly so the Littles wouldnât burn their sensitive mouths.
She turned to greet Madi as she rushed into the kitchen. âHi sweetheart! Did you have a good day?â She smiled widely as the Little girl wrapped her arms around Miaâs waist and hugged her happily.
âDid you add any magic sprinkles to the food tonight? We went out for lunch, but my burger was soggy. I didnât eat very much of it. Iâm hungry!â she announced as her parents came through the door.
Ryan shook his head smiling in apology. âHi Mia. Iâm glad we havenât scared you off yet. It smells amazing in here. Iâm hungry, too.â
Wrapping her arm around her husbandâs trim waist, Nora laughed. âMake that three of us that are hungry. Do we have time to change before dinner?â
âOf course. Iâll dip the soup into the bowls when youâre comfortable. Take your time,â she encouraged. âWhat would everyone like to drink?â
âJust water for us for dinner, I think,â Nora said looking at her family. âWait, Ryan could you find us a good bottle of white wine? I could use a glass tonight to unwind. And we can help Mia celebrate a successful shopping trip. We saw the truck pull into the gate loaded with lots of boxes earlier this afternoon on the security camera. Ryan is very handy in putting together furniture. Heâd be glad to help after dinner if youâd like.â The handsome man nodded happily when everyone turned to look at him.
âThat would be wonderful! Thank you all so much!â Mia relaxed a little. She was usually intimidated by all the directions and the million screws that came in each box. She smiled at their backs as the small family all left to change. She didnât know how sheâd gotten so lucky to find her Little boy and some great people to pamper with her cooking skills. Sheâd never be happy without people to feed and a special Little one to spoil.
